Our Mission
To bridge the gap between early play-based learning and primary elementary education through a personalized, high-engagement, social-emotionally supportive microschool model.
Little Buds Private School provides a one-room microschool environment where students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade receive the foundational instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Educational Philosophy:
The Whole Child Approach
Mixed-Age Mastery & Differentiation
By maintaining a capped enrollment of 12 students across K-2, we provide a natural environment for mentorship and collaboration. We honor grade-level rigor while utilizing individualized learning paths. Students receive instruction based on their current skill level and cognitive needs, ensuring no child is held back by their age or left behind by a one-size-fits-all pace.
Foundational Academic Excellence
We deliver high-engagement instruction in the primary pillars of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Our model treats these subjects as interconnected skills rather than isolated tasks. With our 12-student enrollment cap, we provide the precision of individualized and small group instruction within the dynamic social environment of a classroom.
The CASEL Framework for Holistic Growth
Rooted in our founder’s background in school counseling, we prioritize the emotional health of every student. We integrate the five core competencies of the CASEL standards into our daily rhythm:
Self-Awareness: Identifying emotions and recognizing personal strengths.
Self-Management: Regulating emotions and managing stress/impulses.
Social Awareness: Demonstrating empathy and respect for others.
Relationship Skills: Communicating clearly and resolving conflicts constructively.
Responsible Decision-Making: Making constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions.
Integrated Enrichment
A "whole child" education requires more than just core subjects. We seamlessly incorporate Music, Social-Emotional Learning, Art, Physical Education, and Technology into our weekly flow, ensuring that creativity, movement, and digital literacy are foundational elements of our students' development.
